Do you know of an upcoming crossword tournament? A crossword boat cruise (Hi Stan)? Or how about a dinner for your local puzzle buffs? Let us know about any and all events here.

Crosswords Los Angeles Event
« Reply #1 on: November 24, 2008, 06:21:22 PM »
On April 25, 2009, we'll be launching the inaugural "Crosswords LA Tournament." It's a very early planning stage as yet, but ... puzzles have been promised (by Will Shortz), a beautiful event room has been booked (on the Loyola Marymount University campus), and an incredibly basic website has been posted (www.crosswordswest.com). Please consider signing up on that site if you have any interest in getting further info. I'll keep people posted as I make progress in developing the tourney further. There will be prizes. There will be a lunch (probably on a bluff near the event room, overlooking the Pacific Ocean). All proceeds will go to CHARITY. The event is designed to be fun (albeit competitive) and sociable.

Silicon Valley Puzzle Day, now in its third year, has expanded to be an entire weekend filled with crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and other word and logic puzzles. Join us all day Saturday for workshops for all levels of puzzle lovers. Then, celebrate with us on Saturday night at a special fundraiser for the new Morgan Hill Library Foundation featuring food, music and -- of course -- puzzle fun.  Sunday come and compete in our tournaments, featuring puzzles provided by NY Times puzzlemaster Will Shortz and Sudoku world champion Thomas Snyder.  Plus, crossword puzzles for children crafted by Mark Diehl and bonus competition rounds of Cryptic Crosswords and Killer Sudoku.

More information at http://www.svpuzzle.org/

Coming from out of town?  We have special hotel rates available if you want to make a whole puzzle weekend out of it.  Morgan Hill is just south of San Jose, CA and an easy drive from San Francisco, Santa Cruz and other fun places.
